Today, i spent the good part of my late evening fixing my computer and pulling out my hair because my internet stopped working on my computer. Everything checked out right, my internet was connected, I could ping a website, however, i was stumped in the shear fact that my internet just stopped working.
Here is the run down of what happened, and what I did to fix it.
1. About two weeks ago, I installed Internet Explorer 7. Not by my choice, Vista shoved it down my throat.
2. Internet Explorer 7 of course did not work, so I moved to Firefox 2 (5 MB), which worked just fine. Just a side note, you cannot uninstall IE7, so try to avoid installing it at all costs.
3. Today, after a firefox crash, my computer installed Firefox 3 (107MB) and then all browsers stopped working.
4. I was able to send and receive email, instant message and ping websites…. Wierd right?
After hours of renlentless running back and forth between my friends computer and mine and downloading software that would not work, it dawned on me that my arch nemesis, Norton, was up to no good and took my computer out.
I went to the control panel, clicked on Uninstall, and of course, Norton could not uninstall itself from my computer, go figure.
After hours of searching the internet, I finally used the magic keywords “norton removal tool”, which took me directly to Norton’s Internet Security 2003 - 2008 removal tool.
I downloaded this sucker on my friends computer, put the program on my SD card, ran it, restarted the computer, and voila, my internet all of a sudden started working again.
I hope this article can help someone remove Norton, and all his knuckle head friends.
On a side note, i used to be a advocate user of Mcafee Antivirus Software, but these days, i found my new friend, Kapersky Antivirus Software Free Trial, what a great program

It is not a problem of one Norton Internet Security 2008. I have site, that theme is antiviruses and other spyware software, and rarely users write to me messages with such poblems. This problems not very often, but from time to time they are happens with dr web, kaspersky, norton and some others antiviruses, for example - two days ago I’ve recieved email, that such situation happened with avast home.
In 95% of cases the problem with module of resident protection (or web shield, as its calling in avast). Just turn it off and everything will be fine.
Sometimes I really hate Norton software. During install I select some options, like don’t install Norton Recycle Bin, but after installation … surprise, it’s there.
The memory consumption is also high, that’s why I recommend you to try some other antivirus software.
